Our Mission: Provide exceptional programs, services and employment to the blind and visually impaired as well as excellent education, prevention services and products to all customers.

For fifty-eight years, North Central Sight Services, Inc. has assisted individuals who are blind or visually impaired to maximize their quality of life.  We have helped prevent vision loss through our education programs and screenings for children and adults. To accomplish our mission, we offer Vision Rehabilitation Therapy, Support Services, an Employment Program, and a Prevention of Blindness Program.

North Central Sight Services, Inc. incorporates a business model in daily operations to help fund the mission. Through the AbilityOne Program, we manufacture, package and distribute SKILCRAFT® products to the state and Federal government. We also provide Business Services such as Document Management and Sip for Sight Bottleless Water Coolers to the surrounding communities as a way to provide employment opportunities for individuals who are blind or visually impaired.

North Central Sight Services, Inc. is ISO 9001:2015 Certified. ISO certification is a detailed and methodical quality system that looks at the value of processes at all levels. Only 20 percent of companies in the United States have reached this level of certification.

That was then. This is now.

1957: The Lycoming County Association for the Blind manufactured rubber door mats from recycled automobile tires, caned chairs and performed subcontract work for local businesses.
2016: Employment opportunities now vary from packaging, order processing and shipping to sorting plastics for recycling and Document Management.


1971: Talking book machines were provided to Lycoming County residents who were blind. Transportation services were also provided with assistance from local Lions Clubs.
2016: North Central Sight Services, Inc. offers Vision Rehabilitation Therapy in the Abe Snyder Memorial Resource Center and a Low Vision Aids Store: Tools for Everyday.


1982: The Prevention of Blindness Department was established. Approximately 500 children and adults were screened on a yearly basis.
2016: North Central Sight Services, Inc. has screens more than 5,000 children and adults for potential eye diseases. A Functional Vision Clinic is also provided for children who need further examination.

North Central Sight Services, Inc. provides services to over 700 individuals and has the largest geographical service area in Pennsylvania. According to Prevent Blindness America, 218,328 people in the state of Pennsylvania have some type of visual impairment. As the population continues to age, it is expected to increase 50% by the year 2030. Blindness is preventable.
